  Be careful with this place. Don't offer to volunteer if you are not prepared to be 100% cooperative with their rules and regulations. Many of these people are very nice, kind, and welcoming at first, but several others in their leadership do not tolerate dissent. If you volunteer in FUPC church, you will probably be given a task to do by someone, then later someone else will tell you the task is not being executed correctly. That person will then tell you to do it the way you have been told to do it the second time. Later you might be told that rules were not adhered to in the process of whatever was being done, and that you are no longer permitted to contribute as a volunteer. If you have any ideas of your own, please do not share them if you do not want to suffer the consequences. Perhaps after establishing yourself over the course of months or even years in the congregation, your ideas might find fair reception - who knows? This all very difficult for me to understand since the stress of daily life is supposed to be alleviated by prayer and fellowship in a church and not exacerbated by it. I will continue my search for a church home, and I hope that this commentary helps others to be prepared when trying out First United Presbyterian Church of Tarentum for the first time. My daughter described it as a "look but don't touch" kind of place. That sounds about right to me. All the best and God Bless.

  Love this place & the people. Mission oriented, always reaching out to help others in the community, nation and world. Strong music program, wonderful staff. Great place to bring families!
